The L&N upgraded The Hummingbird in
1947 with new light weight equipment for
economical service between Cincinnati and
New Orleans. The train’s seven cars consisted
only of coaches, a diner and lounge cars - its
simple consist in keeping with its low fares.
But on board the train was comfortable as
its simple paint scheme was elegant and it
remained popular on intermediate stops into
the 1960s. This seven-car consist is the perfect
